Crowd Enjoys Behind the Scenes Look at a Custom Home on Track for LEED and Earth Advantage Certifications

April 22, 2016

A gorgeous 84 degree day welcomed dozens of guests to last Sunday’s Brains & Bones Event in Salem, Oregon.  Warm sunlight burst through triple-pane Loewen and Unilux windows, illuminating Nathan Good’s beautiful three level design and showcasing the enhanced structural engineering and construction of the Winsome team.  Guests enjoyed thorough tours of the in-progress structure, exploring everything from the Insulated Concrete Forms basement, open web trusses, Advanced Framing, multiple balconies and the incredible upstairs space set to become an art studio.  Salvaged entry beam and columns, tubing for the Zehnder Heat Recovery Ventilation System and spray foam insulation were also visible points of interest.

As guests explored, they also took time to learn about each other.  One woman shared how much she was intrigued by the stories of the people she was meeting, another mentioned how delicious the food.  Others took a moment to marvel at the view and bird watch while enjoying a glass of wine.  What a fantastic way to learn about a Net Zero building in the making!

Thank you for spending the afternoon with us.  We can’t wait to show you the finished version of this LEED and Earth Advantage certified home with its 10 kWh solar-electric system and other sustainable features!
