Winsome Home Achieves LEED Platinum Certification

October 31, 2016

We are delighted to announce that Earth Advantage has certified Winsome’s Pringle Creek custom home on 1884 John Muir Circle with LEED Platinum status. Completed in March 2015, the 2,035 square foot home is nestled in a park-like setting with 24 solar panels and multiple high efficiency features including electric heat pump, windows and on-demand water heater.

Since 2014, there have only been 26 LEED Platinum Single Family Homes in all of Oregon, with Winsome claiming two of those spots through Nathan Good’s Vineyard Estate (2014) and Pringle Creek’s 1884 John Muir Circle (2016). Committed to sustainable construction practices and exquisitely crafted buildings, Winsome is also on track to receive two additional LEED Platinum certifications once our current projects reach completion.

The LEED Rating System is the nationally recognized standard for green building. LEED certification recognizes and rewards builders for meeting the highest performance standards, and gives homeowners confidence that their home is durable, healthy and environmentally friendly. The LEED for Homes program was developed for builders seeking to build certified high performance green homes that go beyond energy efficiency to incorporate a high level of sustainability features. Building a project that is LEED for Homes certified offers a distinct mark of excellence that can serve to highlight the builder’s experience. For the home buyer, LEED is like the highly recognized nutrition label that demonstrates in measurable terms that a home incorporates efficient techniques and features, and that the final product has been third party-verified and performance tested.

The Earth Advantage Home Certification standard requires homes to achieve a minimum number of points in each of five categories: energy, health, land, materials, and water. The number of points earned qualifies the home for one of five levels of certification: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Net Zero Ready, or Net Zero.
