Elevated ICF Flooring Systems
February 25, 2014
In one of our current home builds, we recently installed an elevated ICF flooring system (Amdeck by Amvic), which is used to erect a concrete floor on the second floor of a structure.
- Concrete flooring is a more solid floor system than a typical wood floor system – free of potential squeaks and movement.
- Very effective at reducing noise that travels from one story to another.
- Creates a great thermal mass for radiant floor heating, which this house will have in both the ground floor and 2nd floor slabs.
- The EPS used in the green flooring and roofing decking system provides continuous insulation to the concrete floor, providing an R-value of 17.8 or more depending on other materials used.
- The AmDeck® Floor and Roof System implements full 10″ deep lightweight steel joists (Gauge 12, 14 or 16 depending on application) to support construction loads. As a result, the shoring can be placed up to 20 ft on centre which is four times less than competing products, significantly reducing construction costs.
- Offers protection: When used for roofs, the concrete decking will provide ample protection against natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and fires with a fire rating of up to 2 hrs.
