Winsome Sponsors Montessori Fundraiser Alongside Other Businesses
Earlier this month on Wednesday, March 8th, Winsome Construction and a handful of other local businesses helped to sponsor the Winemakers’ Dinner benefiting McMinnville Montessori School.
Prepared by Nick’s Italian Cafe, the evening included an amazing 5 course dinner, thoughtfully paired with exquisitely crafted local wines. Wines from Coeur de Terre, Eisold Smith, Emerson Vineyards, Eyrie Vineyards and Matzinger Davies Wine Company were among those featured. A 23 item silent auction and wine themed raffle also complemented the event’s theme, “A Perfect Pairing.” Raffle tickets were sold before and during the event for chances to win mixed cases of award winning local and international wines.
The McMinnville Montessori was delighted to raise $9,000 for the school and expressed their sincere appreciation for all who made the event possible. Other business sponsors included Whiteson Machine, HBF International, Dr. Ingrid J Viljak, Valley Eye and Laser Center and Third Street Veterinary Hospital.
The mission of McMinnville Montessori School is to cultivate curiosity, independence, social responsibility and a lifelong love of learning. The school consciously fosters an environment that supports the development of the whole child, socially, emotionally and intellectually, using the guidance and wisdom of Dr. Maria Montessori’s life and work.
The Montessori offers programs for both primary (3-6 years) and elementary (6-12 years) aged children and strives to cultivate a growth mindset through hands on, activity oriented work. Practical activities such as making and serving snack, daily classroom jobs and managing their own work choices, teach children to be confident, self directed learners. This style of collaborative work requires children to practice skills that help them cultivate growth mindset habits, such as resiliency and willingness to problem solve.
McMinnville Montessori hopes that every child leaves their program with a sense of personal responsibility, community orientation and a belief in their ability to make the world a better place. Additional information about a Montessori education can be found here.
