Winsome Selected by Green Grove Cohousing Community
Located on five semi-rural acres in Forest Grove, the Green Grove Cohousing Community is a “cooperatively governed community of independent households committed to creating a harmonious, sustainable neighborhood.” Infrastructure construction, as well as the first three of nine free-standing homes is currently underway.
The community is guided by a set of shared values, which includes environmental sustainability, social justice, community service and the arts. Goals for sustainability led the Cohousing Community to Winsome Construction, noting Winsome’s emphasis on “energy conservation and efficiency both in the construction and the continued functioning of the structure over its lifetime.” Winsome is currently partnering with Green Grove for the earth work and a 10-bay carport, as well as working on the construction of three homes. Green Grove Community homes feature high performance construction and range between 900 and 1400 square feet. Each home’s varied architecture will have traditional styling that is designed to keep the community compatible with the character of the 103 year old common house.
Other community features include a view of Mt. Hood, abundant wildlife, newly refurbished common house, art studio, orchard, garden and wood shop. Green Grove is still seeking new members for their family friendly neighborhood. View their newsletter or introductory video to learn more about joining this unique community.
