Green Guild Looking for a Few Good Members

April 27, 2011

The Green Building Guild of Yamhill County has been around for several years. However, it was just registered as a nonprofit less than a year ago.

Based at 166 S.W. Eckman St. in McMinnville, it is an association of building professionals dedicated to promoting green building practices like those demanded by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and the U.S. Green Building Council.

It has no paid staff as of yet, but doesn’t lack for enthusiastic volunteers like Michelle Blumenthal, who helped organize a recent tour of the Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg.

The event, which drew a crowd of more than 100, featured food, wine and prizes, the latter supplied by the Bella Casa Real Estate Group, Honest Chocolates, Newberg Steel, Argyle Winery, Republic of Jam, Briar Rose Creamery and Taste 808.

The guild’s board consists of Shan and Wendy Stassens of Winsome Homes, Larry Anderson of Larry Anderson Engineering, Nathan Cooprider of Nathan Good Architects, Ted Nickell of Ted Nickell Builder, Tim and Lori Stieber of the Yamhill County Soil & Water Conservation District, Gary Johnson of Sage Valley Homes and Vicki Pich of John L. Scott Real Estate.
